The REDLINE Collection honors the communities of Grand Rapids, Detroit, and Flint that were targeted by HOLC (Home Owners Loan Corp.) redlining maps — a federal policy that systematically denied Black families access to loans, insurance, and mortgages following FDR's New Deal in the 1930s. Redlining didn't just deny homeownership. It denied generational wealth, opportunity, and the right to build a future.

Wearing this hoodie is more than a style choice. It's a declaration that history must be acknowledged before it can be changed.

The three cities on the map

Grand Rapids. The Grand Rapids REDLINE hoodie carries the city's real HOLC redlining map. In the late 1930s, federal surveyors graded Grand Rapids neighborhoods by race, marking the southeast-side blocks where most Black residents lived as "hazardous" and shading them red. Those lines steered loans and investment elsewhere for generations, and they still shape the map of opportunity in the city today.

Flint. The Flint REDLINE hoodie carries the city's real HOLC redlining map. In the 1930s, federal "residential security" maps graded Flint's neighborhoods and marked the north-side areas where Black autoworkers and their families lived as "hazardous," coloring them red. Those grades pulled mortgage lending and investment away for decades and concentrated disinvestment in the very neighborhoods that later bore the brunt of Flint's hardest years.

Detroit. The Detroit REDLINE hoodie carries the city's real HOLC redlining map. In 1939, federal surveyors graded Detroit block by block, shading Black neighborhoods like Black Bottom and Paradise Valley red and stamping them "hazardous," which shut residents out of home loans. In 1941 a developer built a half-mile concrete barrier, now known as the Birwood Wall, to separate Black families from a white subdivision so the white side could qualify for federal mortgages. The wall still stands. So does the story.
