The Future of America

James Baldwin (American Author, Novelist, Activist) responds to an interview question about wether or not he is pessimistic about the future of America. His response is part of the reason Justice 4 All was created. Justice 4 All is a hoodie, and graphic tees apparel company established with the soul purpose to challenge, provoke, and disrupt America's post racial fallacy in order to, stimulate constructive and actionable dialog.

2020 exacerbated and partially exposed the perpetual, discrimination, injustices and inequities that continue to impact Black and Brown communities. I have been trying to navigate a multitude of emotions surrounding all of this. Trying to figure out the right outlet for my mixed bag of emotions has been one of the most challenging tasks. Any optimism that I find is most often met with equal or greater pessimism. But as I think back on the words of James Baldwin, I am reminded that “I can't be a pessimist because I am alive. To be a pessimist means that you have agreed that human life is an academic matter. So, I am forced to be an optimist. I am forced to believe that we can survive, whatever we must survive.” So in order to survive these conditions that we are subjected to, I will use Justice 4 All as not only an outlet, but a means to communicate, educate, bridge the gap, and bring awareness to topics that have a great impact on black and brown communities.
